The Child Maintenance and Enforcement Commission (CMEC) has announced that Noel Shanahan has been appointed as Commissioner and Chief Executive to replace Stephen Geraghty.

 

Mr Geraghty is leaving after six successful years in the child maintenance service, firstly as Chief Executive of the Child Support Agency (CSA) from 2005 and subsequently as the first Child Maintenance Commissioner on the formation of CMEC in 2008.

 

The Chair of the Commission, Dame Janet Paraskeva paid tribute to Mr Geraghty, who has overseen significant improvements in the child maintenance system. He has also led the development of the future child maintenance scheme which will replace the two CSA schemes from 2012.
